Your Rug, Your Rug, Your Rug is my Drug...

At least, that's what I was singing at the Home Goods store the other day!

I'm sure Kesha would approve of the song attribute once she saw the amazing rug I just brought home.  If she's anything like me, she would have fallen in love with this 8x10 beauty the minute she laid eyes on it...

You all know that I am a huge preacher of the importance of having a design plan for your home, but sometimes I'm also a big fan of some spontaneity every now and then!  That's because I believe sometimes you just know when a piece is perfect for your home...and you know exactly where that piece is meant to belong.

That was how I felt when I happened upon this rug during a whimsy shopping-spree.  The print, the colors, texture...everything was perfect!

Oddly enough, I made the trip down to Home Goods to purchase a new cupcake carrier.  You see, I have two cupcake carriers that I use frequently, but they only carry 12 cupcakes each. Not to mention, the way they are designed allows the cupcakes to slide around during transport.  Definitely, not cool.

A few months ago Home Goods had been selling what I call the "Super Cupcake Transporter," for $20.00 each.  This bad-boy can hold up to 36 cupcakes, and the trays are designed to recess each cupcake so it doesn't slide around (you can see the tray in the photos from the yogurt parfait post from earlier this week).  Brilliant.  Pure genius, if you ask me!

When I first found these super transporters I couldn't justify spending $40.00 to bring two of them home.  I just pictured Mark's face when I walked in the door.  You know, that look of, "don't you already have cupcake carriers?"  Most of the time, that's enough to get me to think twice about a random purchase I'm about to make.

Anyway, when I had the idea for the yogurt parfaits I knew it was time to finally gift myself with one of the super transporters...and so, I headed back to Home Goods, crossing my fingers that they were still in stock.

They were...but so was this...

Do you think I'll ever learn to just get what I need, pay, and head on home?  Probably not.

This experience was pretty pathetic actually...not only was I groping the rug, I was hovering around it like a starving animal guarding it's kill.  I busted out my cell-phone, snapped a photo and immediately shot a text off to Mark asking if he approved.

After a few texts back and forth, I figured it would probably be best to leave the rug at the store, sleep on it, then go back to make the buy (if it was the right thing).

The main item of question...the rug was $199.00...which is actually a steal-of-a-deal when it comes to 8x10 rugs...but it's still a lot of money to be forking out.  And so, I was torn.

Ultimately, I couldn't get it out of my mind and I decided to take the plunge!

I guess it doesn't hurt that they have a 30 day return policy too.  I figured I would bring it home to get a feel for what it actually looked like in the room, and worst case scenario I'd take it back.  So far so good!  What do you think?

The only thing that's still a bit iffy in my mind is the size.  I would prefer to have a 10x13 rug in this space so that it went all the way under the couch, but I still think that I love the rug enough to keep it.

In other news, I know that it's been a pretty slow week for me, so I'm hoping to get some more projects done over this weekend.  I've got stacks and stacks of projects that I dream of completing someday...but every time I wrap my head around one I get tons of ideas for even more projects.  It can be a crazy cycle sometimes!

I'm also wondering if anyone else is getting hyped about the Mega Millions lottery that's going on right now.  I'm not going to lie, I usually don't get jazzed about stuff like this because I realize what the odds are of winning such a prize...but there's a group at my work that created a pool.  Yep, I put my dollar in, and if we win I promise to use my new-found fortune for good.

What would you do as a mega-millionaire?  All I'm saying is that's a lot of crafting money, if you know what I mean!

Does the rug come bigger? Keep it, keep it, keep it, keep it, keep it - yes I'm trying to hypnotise you.

P.S. Hey, no comment on my confession or are you no longer associating with me. :(

Hey Maureen,

I'm glad you like it! I'm sure it comes in a bigger size somewhere, but since it was from Home Goods, I'm not sure who the actual retailer of the rug is. I even tried checking the tag to see if it listed a manufacturer, but no luck. Even so, I think the 8x10 works out well enough.

I hope you'll forgive me about my slacking with my comment responses last week. I fell behind...

It's actually so ironic because I was typing up a post, and I had just been thinking about my lack of responsiveness (with your comment in particular) when I saw this comment come through. We certainly are still friends, I'm just a slacking blogger sometimes. haha!

I really liked your comment about the cereal too. It made me laugh! I can't say that I wait for my cereal to get soggy, but I certainly don't turn my nose up at the flakes at the bottom of the bowl. You know the ones I'm talking about! I'm a "guzzle the leftover cereal milk straight from the bowl" kind of girl too.

Thanks for sticking with me!

xo, Kel
