The Super Bowl

Attention all sports-fans!

I give you fair warning that if you're reading this post expecting a detailed discussion of tomorrow's face-off between the Giants and the Patriots, you're going to be very disappointed.  In fact, if you're hoping that this post will even touch on the line-up, stats, or even try to predict tomorrow's winner, then you're on the wrong blog.

I have to be honest...I'm not a huge follower of professional sports.  In fact, I'm not a huge follower of almost anything.  Instead, I'm the girl who starts watching American Idol when it's narrowed down to two contestants, and the one who chooses a team to root for in the super bowl after the half-time show.

Yes, it's true.  Let's just call it laziness on my part.  I hate to get invested in things when I don't know what the outcome will be.  So...when I title a post, "The Super Bowl," from now on you'll be safe to assume I'm talking about something like this...

Now that's my kind of super-bowl!

I found this bowl at Savers for $7.99, but on a 50% off day, so I took it home for $4.00!  Believe it or not, this bowl used to look like a big flower.  Before a few coats of spray paint, it looked something like this:

Not too pretty, but I saw the hidden potential.  I liked the size of it and I thought the shape would look pretty modern when all things flower were covered up.

Well, I'm sorry if I let any of you down by not posting a festive-Super-Bowl-party post.  I'll try to make it up to you somehow.  Hmmm...maybe another man-cave themed Inspiration Board like this one from last year?  You know a girl cares when she talks football, even when she's just winging it as she goes!

So, what are your predictions for tomorrow's big game?  Do you think it will be the Giants or the Patriots that takes it?  I guess I'll be rooting for the Giants, since wasn't it the Patriots that beat my Cardinals in the Super Bowl a few years back?  I'm not sure how the Cardinals even made it to the Super Bowl, but that was one year that I went all out with my support and excitement for my home-town team.

Regardless of who you're cheering for, or who wins, I hope you have a great Super-Bowl-Sunday!

Like the bowl and you're right, it does look very modern now that it's painted. I am going to make something similar out of two pieces from the dollar store but it will be smaller and I'm turning it into a magnetic pin holder. I am going to paint it pink and purposely make it look like a flower to use in the spring. Eventually I want a different pin holder for the holidays and seasons to switch out so my craft room will be a little decorated for the time of year. You know what is really sad? I don't even have a craft room yet. :(

Thanks Maureen!

I think a bit of spring decor sounds so great! You'll have to hurry though, it's already in the 80's in AZ, so Spring is almost here.

Keep me posted with how it goes!

I am in total agreement with you, I am not a sports anything fan either!! But my entire family is..three sons!!
I love YOUR Super Bowl, though!!! The original bowl was not too appealing but you have a good eye and the white paint made it look smashing!! I have the same "balls" as you do in a depression glass basket on my dining room table, so our taste are similiar, too!!!!
Thanks for sharing this lovely post.....Yasmin

Thanks Yasmin! I'm glad I'm not alone!

I absolutely love the decorative balls from Target. I'm thinking of getting more to display in a large glass canister. I bet they look awesome with your set-up too!

Thanks for checking in!
