Tour My House:  Studio

Well, it looks like another weekend is coming to a close...and once again I'm trying to get myself motivated about leaving my crafts behind to head back to the office.  Though, on the bright-side...at least I'm heading into an upcoming three-day weekend!

Since my plans for the upcoming three-day weekend include painting the walls in my studio, I figured this would be a good time to finally shoot the "Where We Started" tour video for this room.  I like to give you all an idea of where each room started before I make a lot of changes...even though I'm completely embarrassed to show you the lack of "design attention" I have shown so many rooms in my home.

So, once again I find myself apologizing for the poor quality of the video, as well as the lack of any editing on my part.  You're about to witness me say that Memorial Day is coming up this weekend...yep, Memorial Day!  Trust me, if I had the software, know-how, and time to edit these videos I certainly would.  But for now, I hope you at least get a kick out of watching me embarrass myself!

Let's take the tour...

Now you just heard me refer to the current space as the "project graveyard," since all of my unfinished projects seem to find themselves burried alive in this room.  But hopefully soon, this will all begin to change. Let me remind you of the plans that I have for this space (you've seen me post about them here and here).

Here are some renderings of my original plan for the space...

...but thanks to a few good Craigslist finds, I'm actually going to need to tweek the plan just a bit to make it all work.  Originally, I was looking for a chaise lounge to use for the seating area in the room.  I thought it would be a great place for Mark to play his guitars, and for me to kick back with my laptop...but when I had my family over at Thanksgiving with no place for extra guests (other than the floor), I decided it would be great to have the option for sleeping extra guests.

You saw in the video I brought a daybed into the plan instead of the chaise I originally wanted.  The daybed is perfect because it's actually a trundle-bed, which pulls out to sleep two...but it's also wider than the chaise, which means the desk will need to be closer to the corner than originally planned.

But I guess that's why we start with an inspiration board, right?  The inspiration board comes in pretty handy when changes like this come up.  So here's a look back at the inspiration for my studio.

I'm excited to see how everything comes together.  I'm sure I'll make even more changes along the way, but it will be fun to see how the design evolves.  I think once the paint goes up, it will be the kick-start I need, and I'll be on my way to a studio that's loaded with inspiration!

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Your inspired space looks very pretty. I'm sure you'll have lots of fun completing projects in there!
