Cheap and Easy Artsy Santas

So, I know that I promised more Thanksgiving table setting ideas last weekend ... but then I was assigned three SheKnows articles that required all of my weekend's attention.  I think you'll know why once the articles go live in a few weeks, but for now, let me just tell you that these articles required custom photographs of some holiday table ideas.

I received this assignment while at work on Friday, so I didn't really have a game plan for the direction I wanted to go with things.  Needless to say, I wandered through the isles of Ikea looking for some inspiration -- and -- I found some!

One of the ideas that randomly popped into my head was for these artsy Santa figures.  The dolls were $4 each, and when I saw them I instantly thought they would look cute with little felt Santa hats on them.  It wasn't until I ran into Michaels for the felt that I realized it would be much easier to make the hats out of pipe-cleaner instead.  (See why I'm thankful for random ideas?)

To make the hats, I simply wrapped the pipe-cleaner around a dome-shaped object...

...for me, this object was the topper on a glass container that I have ...

Once the pipe-cleaner had been twisted into shape, I hot-glue-gunned the top and added the pouf...

That's it!  I'm pretty sure this is the easiest project ever featured on this website ... and I'm really thinking it's one of the cutest holiday decorations to date!  What do you think?

I'll be sharing more from my mad-weekend-holiday-blitz soon, but I thought this would be a nice project to get us all into the holiday spirit!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!  Is anyone putting up their Christmas tree this weekend?
