My Fair Lady

Well, I was almost ready to share the big reveal of the Penny Lane project I've been working on for the last few weekends...but then this happened...

Literally, as I was putting on my final coat of clear lacquer I watched as the paint inside the P started to crinkle up!

Not cool, paint.  Not cool!

So now, I have to wait for everything to dry again, then I get to take a razor blade to anything crinkled, and paint again by hand.  Grrr!

Oh well, I guess something like that was bound to happen.  In fact, I think I jinxed myself because just a few minutes before disaster struck I had the audacity to utter the words, "this is going better than I expected..."

But no worries, I've been wanting to show you guys my newest accessory that I bought at Ross a few days ago.  She's hanging out over my fridge...

An actual "she" this time, not just something that I've feminized for no good reason other than to add dramatic impact...she really is a she!

I call her "my fair lady," or the "Greek goddess."

She inspires me to become a fair lady myself, so I've been on the search for things I can use for primping, and for holding the pretty things that all ladies must have.  So the other day when I was at Savers I stumbled across this little do-hicky...(aka, thingy)...

I'm not exactly sure what it is used for, but I knew what I was going to use it for...holding earings.  I'm assuming that's what it was designed to be used for anyway, but it didn't really come with instructions. The price tag was $3.00, but it was also 50% off-day, so I swiped it up for $1.50.

With just a few coats of spray paint, I transformed this little do-hicky into a cute jewelry holder that's now helping me to keep my earings organized...

Right now I have it in on the bathroom vanity, but I'm thinking I might move it to my night stand, since that's usually where I take my earings off anyway.  We'll see though, I'm going to try it out for a little while to see how I like it.

Well, did anyone do anything fun this weekend?  Anyone else have a project that went wrong in the final phases?  On the bright side, at least my project will be salvageable.  I would literally cry if something had gone wrong that caused me to have to start entirely over!

Hey Kelli,

Nothing to report from here - absolutely nothing. It sucks that the paint wrinkled like that but hopefully it won't be too bad of a fix. Love the earring holder thingy painted white. Very classy.

I'm hoping it will be a quick fix with the crackled paint. We'll see though. Ha!
