Cookies on a Sunday Afternoon

Hello friends!

I hope you've all enjoyed your weekend!  I'm sad that it has to end, but another work week is ahead.  I guess it's good though, at least it gives me some time to think of some crafty ideas for next weekend.  It's a vicious cycle!

I enjoyed this afternoon with some homemade cookies and some Hulu.  Not the best combination if you're on a diet, but I can always start my diet next week, right?  Or the week after that?  Ha!

I can't really decide if Hulu is the best thing since sliced bread, or the worst thing since Oprah went off-air.  I'm actually pretty torn about it.

On the one hand, Hulu brings all of your entertainment needs into one convenient location.  It's like the Pinterest of entertainment, and I love that I can catch up on all of the things I miss throughout the week.

But, on the other hand, the episodes are all right there in front of your face.  You don't have to wait a long-suspensful week to find out how each cliff hanger is solved.  Plus, the commercial breaks are only about 1 minute long.  That's not even enough time to fold a load of laundry!  It's like a productivity death trap!  Once you start watching something, it's difficult to walk away and do something meaningful with the rest of your day.

Even worse, when you finally finish up the episodes of your show Hulu takes it upon itself to start streaming another show that it "recommends" for you!  Maybe I'm just a sucker for this gimmick, but it gets me each time!

So, I started some of the episodes for the next Design Star, and I think I already have my favorites picked.  I can't even imagine what it would be like to make it on that show.  What an opportunity, but also so much pressure.  There's a part of me that thinks I would enjoy it, and another part of me that really loves the process of working out the design challenges of a space over time.  Everything in the HGTV world is like design on steroids.  It's like the superhero forces of space planning and implementation.  I don't think I would work well like that, but I enjoy watching others do it.

One of my absolute favorite designers to watch is David Bromsted.  I know, it's not like I'm the only one, but I'm just drawn to his design style and his vibrant personality.  It's very challenging to put your heart and soul into designing a space for another person and then hand them the keys and walk away. There's a part of you that just wants to move in with them so that you can enjoy the space along with them, but that's what I love about David.  You can just tell that he designs for the client, and the high that he receives from his work is in their happiness with the space, not his.  Such a role model!  Check out this episode of HGTV'd to see what I'm talking about:

So, now you know that I lazied-up my Sunday afternoon, but what did you do with yours?  Did anyone else make cookies? Is Sunday the day that you get together as a family, or maybe the day that you get outside?

Sunday is my recoup day.  It's the day that I try to relax a bit before going back to work on Monday...so in some odd way, I'm kinda glad that Hulu sucked me in.  It's what I'll need to re-energize for the week to come!

Hi Kelli

I just love your style (and your tutorials)...keep up the great work!
I hosted a baby shower at my house for a dear friend this Sunday. This was the largest event that I have ever planned and hosted. It was such an honor to do this for her, and it was so much fun to plan! The mom-to-be LOVED it, and that's what matters.
Pinterest and I are BFFs now. :-)

Aw snap...I totally guess that you bought the Moroccan table! I wrote a little rambling comment about it too. Oh well, that'll teach me to make sure that a comment posts and doesn't get lost in the internet abyss.

Happy Monday,
Nichole

Thanks Nichole! I really appreciate it!

I totally hear-ya with the Pinterest planning power! When I helped with the decorations for my friends bridal shower it was such a life-saver! I've been wanting to do a baby shower, but I need some of my friends to have more babies. Ha!

Actually, one of my friends did just tell me that she is expecting and I already called dibs on throwing the shower. I know it's a ways off, but it's never too early to start brainstorming!

Did your comment on the window shopping post not go through? I didn't see anything come through on my end, but let me know if I missed it.

Hi Kelli

Your recent bridal shower decorations were actually part of my inspiration for the baby shower. I really liked your inexpensive and easy framed heart decorations. I ended up creating a Wall O' Frames with pictures and images (some that I crafted/painted) that were meaningful to the mama.

I think if I had it to do over, I would have actually picked a theme (I circled around the idea of a theme for so long, but never landed). All of the colors I used were right out of the baby's nursery, and I had lots of the mom's favorite things. I suppose the theme could have been called - Kari's Favorite Things. :-)

Brainstorming for the shower was a blast! There are so many creative ideas floating around on Pinterest...it's never to early to start planning. If you are interested...here's my baby shower planning compilation... http://pinterest.com/nicholeot/kari-s-baby-shower-ideas/

Window shopping post...I guess my comment did not go through. I'm kind of new to this commenting on people's blog thing...so most likely it was user error. Boo.
Ah well. I'm happy to know that at least I made the right choice (I picked it because that's what I would have bought too). :-)
I hope you have another contest...I need decorating help, and would love to be the lucky winner of a mood board.

The photo wall sounds amazing! Sounds like something that should definitely be circulating around the Pinterest world! Did you link up any photos anywhere? You know I love to pin! Ha!

Such cute ideas on your board for the baby shower! I love the elephant cupcakes and all of the pink! I wanted to throw a baby shower before...but now I really, really, really want to throw a baby shower!

Bummer about the comment for the window shopping post. I usually approve comments when I get home from work, so if you don't see something show up by about 8 pm AZ time I probably didn't get it. I definitely will be hosting more opportunities to win some prizes though, so keep playing!

Hi ya

I don't have the pictures linked up anywhere (no blog of my own)...but I'd be happy to share them with you, and you're welcome to share them with your readers if you'd like to.
I know that would thrill the mama. :-)
