5 Things You Might Not Know

Hi!  My name is Kelli, and there's stuff you don't know about me; and since we're blogging friends, I figured it was about time I spilled the beans.

I entered this world weighing 12 lbs, 12 oz, and I think I entered my first sumo-wrestling competition by the time I was 6 months old.

Okay, that last part wasn't true, but the first part was.  It's a good thing my mom didn't see the Evian-roller skating-babies commercial back then, or I think I would have been in for a strict regimen of cardio!

I get some grief over this from my friends, but it's totally true!  You're probably wondering why anyone would want to join a club about toast, right?  Well, the name can be deceiving.  Honestly, I had never heard about Toastmasters until a few years ago, but it's actually an international club that focuses on improving public speaking.

When I went through design school I had to give a lot of presentations, and I learned how incredibly terrified I was of public speaking.  Now, it's better, but still something I have to work on.  I like the Toastmasters program because everyone can relate to my fears, and it's very supportive and encouraging.

I think it still holds true today; though, I've never really been in an accident (that I caused), and rarely receive citations for my driving behavior (knock on wood...).  I don't think that I'm all that crazy of a driver, but I definitely like to get places fast!

Hopefully I didn't just jinx myself...we'll see how rush-hour goes tomorrow!

Wow!  I never thought I would post anything on my site about mucus, but I guess I was wrong...

I've been an asthmatic since I was a little girl.  My mom would kill me if she ever read this will kill me when she reads this, but she used to tell me that I just needed to keep practicing when I couldn't catch my breath playing sports.  It's okay, mom...I'm still alive!

Nowadays, it's not too bad, but all of the dust storms from this monsoon season have certainly caused some flair-ups.

That's right!  When I first started this blog (before I really had released the link to anyone), I got a Twitter notification that the-one-and-only Lisa LaPorta was following me!  I about fell over!

For anyone who doesn't know who Lisa LaPorta is, check out her bio at HGTV.com.  Or, better yet, see her in action in a full episode of Designed to Sell.

I was only semi-famous for a few months, but it really motivated me to kick it into gear and get some content posted.  Who knows if she even saw any of my crazy-awesome DIY skills, but there's a part of me that likes to imagine her life has been changed by something she read right here.  Ha!

Well, now you know a bit more about me.  Tell me something about you...

It is so cool that Lisa LaPorta was (I'm sure still is) following your online presence! I bet that was good motivation to keep it up!
I too was a big baby - 10.1 lbs & my younger brother was 10.2 lbs. I was a hearty kid, but lost the baby fat when I hit my growth spurt in elementary school. That's when I sprouted heads and shoulder above all the boys. :-)

Thanks Nichole!

It definitely was motivating! Sadly, I don't see her on my followers list anymore, but maybe someday she'll come back. haha!

I was also much taller than the boys up until about 9th grade. Glad to hear I wasn't alone, and that I'm not the only one out there who weighed more than the average babe. My mom told me that I weighed more than the Thanksgiving turkey that year. haha!

Thanks for checking in! xo, Kelli
