Well, I'm back! Did you miss me?
There have been a few reasons for why I haven't posted anything since Monday. On Tuesday, I was back at work after my ten-day staycation, which meant I only had the evenings to finish working on all of the decorations for my friends bridal shower--and since I was working on the decorations, I couldn't share the photo's, or the surprise would be ruined.
But now I'm back, and the shower was wonderful, and I can finally share all of the nitty-gritty details with you all! Horray!!
A few days ago, I gave you guys a sneak peak of the decorations, but I was right in my assumption that the bride-to-be was checking in on the details. That's right, she confessed this weekend that she read the entire post, even after the personalized messages that I added to warn her that she should look away immediately.
That's okay. I figured as much, which is why I only shared a few pieces of the projects I was working on. I think that she was still surprised when she saw the final product!
The party took place at my parents house, and these are some of the views that guests saw as they pulled into the driveway:
My parents have a pretty big front yard, so we used balloons on some of the columns, and luminaries/candles for the walls and walkway.
The shower was at 1:00 in the afternoon, so the candles didn't really have that much of an effect, but I still thought they were a cute way to line the walkway. I made a few different types of candles, but my personal favorites were the ones with the teal ribbon with the heart cut-outs. L.O.V.E. them!!!
Another feature of the outside decorations were these paper wheels that I hung on the porch:
When guests entered, they were greeted by the engaged couple. Well, sorta:
More like, they were greeted by pictures of the lovely couple, but then as they turned, they saw a place to jot down a few comments, words of advice, or warm wishes for the soon-to-be-newlyweds.
I'm not sure if you remember that I mentioned in my sneak-peak post that I was making the cutest pencils ever, but here they are. I'll be posting more on their creation later, but I just have to say...aren't they cute?!?!?
And this chalkboard is the finished makeover of the clock that I found a few weeks ago during a quick trip to Savers (more details on that project coming soon too!).
After guest had left some advice for the couple, they came down the hall toward the family room.
Here, we set up another display of the couple's pictures, and also the refreshment table.
I loved the pink and teal cupcakes, the L.O.V.E. cans, and the Oreo cookie suckers!
Looks like I've found a new favorite way to eat Oreo cookies!
The main event took place in the family room where we hung some streamers, and some DIY'd paper heart garland.
Danneel was the star of the show, and we all enjoyed watching her open her gifts and talk about her upcoming wedding plans!
In the end, I think it turned out well. Here is a picture of me (in the center) along with my sister (to the left) and Danneel, the bride-to-be (to the right) at the end of the shower...and it's true..."all you need is love," and you'll have plenty to be happy about!
I had so much fun helping out with the decorations for this shower, and have to give a big shout-out to my helpers, my sister, my mom, and my dad for helping me to get everything up, everything baked, and everything "fluffed," just in time for the shower (and I mean...literally, just in time! Whew!).
I hope you'll stay tuned for the details on how everything was made. I'll be posting about each of the projects I worked on for this shower over the next few weeks, and I'm excited to show you all how simple most of these projects were (and how in-expensive they were).
That's it for now! It's my bedtime!
