Pre-Thanksgiving Chaos

Wow!  What a week!

It's been a blur of five days, to say the least.  The weekend was filled with preparations for Thanksgiving din-din, and serving as an amateur photographer for my friend Jana and her adorable family (more details on the photo shoot coming soon).

The week was filled with more preparations for Thanksgiving din-din...but to top all of this off, I've been conquering the flu-bug that's been going around my office.  What luck, right?  I guess that's what a combination of a corporate-open-office-cubeland-job and very little sleep will do to a girl.  Someday I'll learn to take better care of myself...but until then, I thought I'd fill you in on some of the pre-Thanksgiving chaos that's going on around here.

I'd love to say that my house is always in perfect order, but as you can see, right now it's in festivity prep-zone status...

I'm not sure where else you'll find a sewing machine and ironing board right next to all of the pies, but hey...that's just how I roll!

I'm definitely not complaining about the current chaotic state.  It's a blessing in disguise!

You see, all of this chaos is prepped food that was brought by my mom and dad when they arrived this evening.  Bless them!  I was freaking out about how I was going to get everything prepped and on the table tomorrow, and thanks to their good hearts, most of the food is already prepped.  The turkey is in the roaster oven, cooking as we speak (or as I write, whichever way you want to look at it), the pies are already tempting us with their goodness, and the rolls are ready to be tossed in the oven.  All we'll need to do tomorrow is cook the stuffing and mashed potatoes and call it a day!

If you can't tell, I'm very excited about this, and very thankful!  This means my attention can be redirected back to where my true talent lies...the decorations.  I mentioned a few days ago what my plan was for my table, and here's a little preview of how it's coming together...

No, the dish towel at the front is not intended for the actual set up, and there are still many details to be added...but so far, I can see it coming together.  Tomorrow I'm going to add some embellishments while everyone else is peeling potatoes!  Ha!  You know what they say about too many cooks in the kitchen, right?  Well, at least that's going to be my excuse (the truth is I'm not a big fan of peeling potatoes)!

Well, happy Thanksgiving everyone!  What are your plans?  Is anyone else hosting this year?  I hope you each have a great holiday filled with good times and great memories!
